It’s time once again to do some star watching in those modest B movies that did so much to make acting careers, or that kept careers going after A-list fame and fortune faded away.
There are so many interesting stories in B Movie City.
There are the up-and-coming, pay-your-dues stories, like Ginger Rogers shrieking in the night in B thrillers before she danced the night away with Fred Astaire,
Or the do-whatever-it-takes-to-keep-working stories, like Academy Award winner Joan Crawford playing a reformed axe-murderess for B-meister William Castle,
Or the persistence-is-its-own-reward stories, like Lyle Talbot making a 6 decade career of B movies and TV shows.
We all have our favorite “star(s) in B movies” story, so I hope you’re inspired to participate in this year’s blogathon.
Since they’ve worked so well the last couple of years, we’ll keep the basic guidelines intact:
- The focus is on B, low budget, exploitation, and/or direct-to-video films featuring your favorite stars (no TV episodes please)
- Blog posts, podcasts or videos should be new
- No movie title duplicates, so get your request in early to ensure that you get the title you want
- An overview of an actor’s career in B movies instead of focusing on a single title is perfectly acceptable
- Limit 2 posts per person
- Most of the past entries have clustered in the time period from the 1930s through the 1980s, but go for it if you want to cover something older or newer
When: Friday, March 28 through Sunday, March 30
Where: Right here at Filmsfrombeyond.com
How: Please sign up by providing your name, your blog/vlog/podcast title, and your preferred star and movie title(s) (or just the actor’s/actress’ name in the case of a career overview). You can use the comments below, email me at brschuck66@yahoo.com, or reach out on X (@brschuck66).
I will keep this page updated with participants as they roll in. Please send me the link(s) to your completed contribution(s) on or around the dates of the blogathon. For each day of the event I will post a page with links to the contributions in the order they came in.
Here’s hoping you can join in on the fun!

Hi, Brian! I'd like to blog under the big top with Joan Crawford in 1967's BERSERK.
ReplyDeleteYou've got it Flash! Go berserk!
DeleteHi Brian, thanks for the invite... can you add me with Oliver Reed in Tomorrow Never Comes (1978), it's got a big cast but a wee budget...
ReplyDeleteYou're right, that is quite a cast! Looking forward to it!
DeleteYay! I have been waiting for this blogathon announcement. I would like to take a small break from my "Gene Kelly in Bs" run to feature Jack Lemmon in Save the Tiger. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteVery good! Thanks Marianne!
DeleteI forgot the year: Jack Lemmon in Save the Tier (1973).
ReplyDeleteHi, Brian! OK, I think I've got one--"Haunted Palace" with Vincent Price, Debra Paget, and Lon Chaney, Jr.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice! The comment came through as Anonymous, so if you're reading this, please let me know your blog, or e-mail me if the comments on this site are acting up. Thanks!
DeleteHi Brian! Has anyone ever done a 1961 teen angst flick called The Explosive Generation with a pre-stardom William Shatner and a very young Beau Bridges? It's one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of it -- it sounds intriguing!
DeleteHi Brian... I'd like to cover Joan Crawford in Trog (1970), if it hasn't been taken.
ReplyDeleteYou're in luck Barry, Joan's feature film swan song is yours!
DeleteHooray! :)
DeleteOk, I'm in for Grand Old Movies - I'll be looking at Ava Gardner's 1st credited film role in a Bowery Boys flick, Ghosts on the Loose! Being that Bela Lugosi is also in the film, that makes it kind of a double-header!
ReplyDeleteNow that's an impressive first film credit! You've got it!
Deletethanks!
DeleteHi Brian, would love to review a young Ray Milland in Bulldog Drummond Escapes (1937). This is Ruth at silverscreenings.org

ReplyDeleteWow, I was completely unaware of this adaptation! Looking forward to it!
DeleteHi Brian,
ReplyDeletePlease put my down for Christian Slater - he did quite a few B movies after his early successful years.
Cat
