I believe it's streaming from a couple of sources, so I hope to remedy this soon. Your description of the wintry travelogue activities reminded me of the unnecessary extended commercial for Danish tourism that takes up a substantial amount of screen time in Reptilicus. Hmm... Must've been a trend back in the day. As for '50s male anxiety and fictional female-dominated societies, I wonder if it reflected the feeling of being trapped in the tedium of peacetime domesticity, as compared to the "excitement" and forced male camaraderie of the war years? It's interesting to see how many movies with similar storylines (male chauvinist astronauts encounter a matriarchal society on a different planet) popped up during the '50s. One thing that stands out is how far we get into the movie before the credits start rolling. I always found that to be kind of strange. But finally, the colorful, dazzling title comes on and it's all pure screen magic from then on. One wonders if Talleah is as restless in her marital life as Miss Gabor. It's fun to speculate that Neal Patterson, after being summarily dispatched back to Earth by a fickle Talleah, changed his name to Gil Favor and decided that living with a herd of cattle was easier than life with a tempestuous Venusian lady scientist!Mike's Movie Roomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15839320118431543221noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4846293972880517466.post-48260840826506432582024-02-25T12:28:11.269-08:002024-02-25T12:28:11.269-08:00I've not seen this film, but I love the idea o...I've not seen this film, but I love the idea of Zsa Zsa being in it AND out-glamming everyone else.
